Interesting discussion about writing seasons. I tend to think about how I flow with the elements in terms of what the elements govern in general, and how they rule my own body. I have a lot of the winter/water element in me, so winter is a good time for me to form new ideas and, quite often, put them on paper. But I’ll let things percolate until they are ready. Spring is a good time for movement. The wood element is active and sometimes too frenetic for me. As is summer, with its fiery energy.
Interesting discussion! The seasons don’t really affect my writing practice except for wanting to describe whatever is outside my window, regardless of the month in the story.
Winter in Wisconsin is a great time to write a novel – you have six dark, icy cold months with nothing better to do, plus an extra cold month on either side, if you need the extra time. Like Berthold, I use my summer, spent out of doors, to dream up the winter story.

Sometimes I wish I lived in a place with real winters where the only thing to do is stay inside and write.
