C. S. Lakin: concept with a kicker, protagonist with a goal, conflict raised to the max, theme with a heart.
To me it’s that first one that makes or breaks one’s writer’s spirit. Without a dazzling idea, one that feels unique, broad and nuance
It is funny how the wellspring of inspiration just dries up. I’ve experienced that with painting. I still like to paint, I just can’t think of something interesting to paint. So I don’t.
Here’s a question: how many readers does everyone think it would take to be enough to make you feel good about the success of your books? I have to wonder because there are even indie-authors who have sold a million books or more, and are still hustling for even more sales.
The more you get, the more you want, sort of like the fisherman’s wife in the fairy tale. I would be happy with my book sales as long as they keep happening, even at their current low levels. No sales at all for weeks is kind of depressing.
Inspiration seems to be a separate, unpredictable thing. I really don’t know how it works.

I think I’m experiencing AI Fatigue. I’m sick to death of hearing about AI. I just want to do my writing thing.
